Microsoft introduced its latest AI innovation in the form of Phi-3-mini, its most sophisticated AI technology. The tech company creates and releases three separate SLM (small language models) and GPT-3 is the first lightweight AI model. Microsoft trying to make Phi-3-mini less expensive and more accessible is their ambition to have more people using it.
Phi-3-mini is the name that Microsoft gives its program that combines affordable AI technologies with sector transformation efforts in several areas. Microsoft’s Phi-3-mini, a super-product that has been developed by Sebastien Bubeck, the VP of GenAI research. Since Phi-3-mini is cheaper than the existing products, it stands out on the market. Bubeck states that Phi-3-mini doesn’t differ from other companies on the market just marginally but in terms of costs with the price cut up to 10 times less.
Short-on-time-and-limited-resources companies can be served by Phi-3-mini as a great option that does routine tasks. It is exactly the same objective as Microsoft’s ambition that AI should be for everybody and organizations of all types should be enabled to use it.
Hugging Face and OpenAI’s Ollama are the most popular ones while Azure cloud service platform and Microsoft are the other platforms that now offer Phi-3-mini. It puts a lot of effort into enhancing and expanding its capabilities with its smooth cooperation with Nvidia’s graphics processing units and software.
Among other AI endeavors, Microsoft‘s Philanthropies funded the first personal AI, Phi-3 Mini, and recently made a $1.5 billion investment in G42, a UAE-based AI company. The company has been in the lead in developing new cutting-edge AI models that have been integrated into the platform by partnering with some small businesses like Mistral AI.

Video Calling and AI on Your Face! Are Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Worth It?
The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are another example that can now be taken by customers who like stylish designs and good performance. They come equipped with technologies that allow AI to be used on them. They had come with cameras and headphones, which already had a very practical sense of recording information and listening to music.
Meanwhile, they really upped their game with multimodal AI, which gives rise to conversations and other interactivity. An AI layer that relies on the interaction of AI assistants with a range of information modalities such as text, images, and audio data is what the smart glass technology refers to as multimodal AI. This capability, for one, opens a pipeline to several opportunities including item recognition and instantaneously supply with answers to questions.
One can argue whether the whole AI system is a threat to human vision. With multi-modal AI alternatives available nowadays, Glasses might become less appealing. The Humane AI pin, for instance, has been criticized lately because of its poor performance in the AI field. Even though this might take place sometimes, for example, when focusing on an item is not permitted, the glasses are perfect for quick and hassle-free record retrieval.
By stating “Hey Meta, hey look at…allowing users to ask questions such as the name of a plant or location, translation, or even Instagram caption creation is facilitated. The glasses’ AI assistant is not infallible; it sometimes provides a confident but wrongful identification, but the optical industry is finally paving a path on the road to improve determinism in optical devices. The combination of a less easy-to-device interface with familiar features such as headphones and the ‘intuitive’ interaction with smartphones again facilitates the user’s experience with AI.
To wrap it up, Meta has not only improved their AI software, but they have also brought into play live streaming capabilities to call on WhatsApp and Messenger, letting people live-switch between their own point of view and experience. The frame with color variations and colorful patterns makes old-foggy-looking glasses come alive.
Going forward Meta chief technology officer, Andrew Bosworth discusses the idea of introducing AI generative into the VR headsets which promise several exciting innovations in the wearables segment.
