Dexterity has successfully raised an additional $95 million in funding to further develop its innovative concept of “Physical AI,” a technology designed to equip robots with the intelligence needed to execute physical tasks efficiently.
In a LinkedIn post on Tuesday (March 11), Dexterity described its “AI of AIs” approach, which incorporates hundreds of Physical AI models to enable robots to perform key functions such as loading trucks, singulating parcels, and palletizing goods for some of the world’s largest corporations. The company emphasized that this funding marks just the beginning of its mission.
Dexterity highlighted that its technology aims to enhance productivity and address ongoing labor shortages in various industries. According to the company’s website, its Physical AI and robotics solutions offer robots human-like dexterity, the ability to automate repetitive tasks, and perform complex manipulations in unpredictable environments.
These advancements are particularly relevant to logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations, where automation and efficiency are increasingly in demand.
Lightspeed, which co-led the latest funding round alongside Sumitomo Corp., shared in a LinkedIn post that it has supported Dexterity since its initial seed round in 2017. The firm reaffirmed its commitment to working with Dexterity as it continues to push the boundaries of AI-powered robotics, enhancing efficiency, automation, and decision-making across industries.
Meanwhile, the robotics sector continues to attract significant investment. On Feb. 14, reports surfaced that Figure was negotiating with investors to raise $1.5 billion to advance its humanoid robotics initiatives, with expectations that these robots could be deployed in homes within a few years.
In August, Figure introduced its second-generation humanoid robot, Figure 02, boasting advanced dexterity and AI capabilities designed to handle a diverse range of commercial tasks and, eventually, household applications.
On the same day, it was reported that Meta is forming a specialized team to develop AI-powered humanoid robots capable of performing household chores. The initiative will focus on enhancing AI, sensors, and software, potentially benefiting companies involved in manufacturing and selling robots.
Additionally, on Feb. 13, Apptronik announced that it had raised $350 million to support the deployment of its Apollo humanoid robot, scale its operations, and expand its workforce. The company stated that the new funding will enable it to meet increasing demand for AI-powered humanoid robots across various industries, including automotive, electronics, third-party logistics, beverage bottling and fulfillment, and consumer packaged goods.
As investment in robotics and AI surges, Dexterity’s latest funding round underscores the growing demand for intelligent automation solutions, paving the way for more advanced robotic capabilities across multiple sectors.
